CAMPUS NEWS IN CAPSULES *******APRIL, 2026 

STEPPING INTO THE NEW ACADEMIC SESSION

The session unfolded on April 01,2026, on a positive and enthusiastic note. The day began with an assembly and welcoming message by the Principal. Teachers from Bal Vatika to X and XII greeted their students with warmth and engaged them in introductory teaching and activity. Special attention was given to the new comers to ensure that they felt welcomed and comfortable.

OUR LITTLE GRANDMASTER

In the One day Rapid Chess Tournament -2026(Under-7) organised by Bongaigaon District Chess Association, our wonder boy, Master Nimish Gupta (Bal Vatika-III) emerged 1st in the said competition held on March 22,2026 at Hotel Jahnabee Regency, Bongaigaon. Out of about 100 participants, Nimish stood tall and made us immensely proud.

RECOGNISING EXCELLENCE

The school organised a special ceremony on April 25 , 2026 to honour and celebrate the achievements of its students of the previous session(2025-26) through the distribution of merit certificates and trophies to academic scholars for their commitment to excellence. In addition to academic achievements, certificates were also awarded in various categories to encourage holistic development. Students were recognised as Best Improved for their remarkable progress, 100% Attendance for their consistency and punctuality, and Best Disciplined for their exemplary conduct and adherence to school values. All the awards & certificates were given away by Hon'ble Shri N.K.Barua, Executive Director & Refinery Head, IOCL BGR and Pro-Vice Chairman of the School Board of Management and Dr.R.K.Mishra, the Principal of the school. All the parents of the awardees were also invited to the occasion. The event served as a source of motivation for all students, inspiring them to strive for excellence in both academics and character.

RONGALI RHYTHMS IN TUNE WITH BOHAG BIHU CELEBRATIONS

The festival of Bohag Bihu was celebrated with zeal and zeal. The morning assembly began with a felicitation to the Hon’ble Principal with traditional gamusa and aronai followed with a hymn in Assamese and then, a Bihu geet creating a vibrant festive ambience. Dressed in traditional attires, students performed a Bihu & Bwaisagu confluent dance which showcased the rich cultural heritage of Assam. The Principal, Dr.R.K.Mishra greeted everyone on the event. The school also arranged various activities for all level of students to spread the essence of this vibrant Spring festival. These activities/competitions were art & painting, drawing, quiz, poster making and slogan writing. The classrooms, corridors came alive with decoration based on the theme of Rongali Bihu.

EXPANDING OUR TEAM-APPOINTMENT OF NEW STAFF MEMBERS

Competent teachers for various subjects and levels along with a counsellor were appointed to enhance the quality of education and ensure smooth functioning of the school. In addition, some supporting staff were also recruited to facilitate the efficient day-to-day operations of the school.

ONSET OF CLASS -XI

On April 22, the Principal along with the Academic Incharge and concerned teachers conducted an orientation programme for the parents of class-XI(Science, Commerce & Humanities) to familiarise them with the set up and policies , This was followed by classroom visits by the parents and the selection of parent representatives for the PTA. Thus, the students were made confident to join their classes from the very next day, i.e April 23,2026.

HONOURING OUR PLANET : EARTH DAY AT SCHOOL

The morning assembly reflected the spirit of the occasion as students took a pledge in both Hindi and English to protect the environment and adopt eco-friendly habits . This was followed by a meaningful conversation  contributing towards a cleaner and greener future. To mark the significance of the day, the students of class-XII(Commerce) presented Principal Sir with a sapling. Sir encouraged two senior students to plant it and take responsibility for its care, symbolising a shared commitment to environmental conservation.

WORLD ENGLISH LANGUAGE DAY(April 23,2026)

The day was celebrated marking the importance of English as a global language. The celebrations featured a variety of engaging programmes at the morning assembly. Students showcased their linguistic skills and confidence in expression. Students were also involved in various activities like recitation, story telling, literary quiz, dumb charade and some interesting games, class-wise and category wise which they thoroughly enjoyed.

FIRE SAFETY DEMO BY IOCL BGR

During the Fire Services Week (April 14-29,2026), IOCL BGR conducted fire safety demonstrations at the school to raise awareness, train students on emergency protocols and demonstrate fire fighting equipments. These sessions included extinguisher usage training, coping with LPG fire and evacuation procedures to educate students and staff on safety measures.

COMMENDABLE FEAT BY THE SCOUTS

On April 24, the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Laxman Prasad Acharjya, in presence of the Chief Secretary of Assam, Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS distributed certificates to the Rajyapuraskar Testing Camp awardees of the Bharat Scouts & Guides for the year 2024 and 2025 at Rudra Singha indoor stadium, Dispur. 11 scouts from the school received the prestigious award certificate led by Scout Master, Mr. Dipankar Mazumdar who received the Assistant Leaders Trainer Certificate from His Excellency. This is the highest and second rank for trainers in India. Many congratulations to all the coveted certificate winners !

THE SPLENDOUR OF SPELL BEE

A Spell Bee Competition was organised for students of classes-I to XII at school. With the aim of enhancing students’ vocabulary ,spelling accuracy and confidence in language skills. After qualifying in the written round, the selected students from all levels participated in the final round which was oral and visual based. Students enjoyed spelling out words, unscrambling letters to form words, identifying pictures ,etc. Winners were declared category wise. All in all, it was an interesting & engaging experience for all the participants. The entire event was initiated by the Department of English.

MOCK DRILLS AS PART OF DISASTER MANAGEMENT

These days a lot of importance is laid on mock drill for children to cope with disasters like earthquake, etc. The school organizes such drills from time to time to familiarise students with such emergencies. In this session, the 1st mock drill was initiated for the school at two levels- Juniors(Classes-III to VII) & Seniors(Classes-VIII to XII) on April 30,2026. Children exercised the drill twice to be efficient in responding to natural disasters.

INTRODUCTORY PTM-CLASSES-VIII & IX

The first PTM of the session for classes-VIII & IX was held on April 30,2026 . Parents got familiarised with the subject teachers and the overall system of the school. In the same meeting,parent representatives from the said classes for formation of the PTA were also selected.
